So it turns out that we are making a quick trip up to Jersey this weekend. We will be departing of Friday morning and driving up, spending Sat and Sun in the area and then driving back home on Monday. As usual, there are tons of things to do and people to see. Jessica will get her first glimpses of the garden state and meet some family that she hasn't gotten to meet yet. Looks like Shu will be hosting a Superbowl party, so we will be going there and seeing everyone on Sunday and hopefully watching the Pats lose and then hearing a news story that they all died in a firey plane wreck after the game.
So not only is this coming up, but Friday is weigh in day for the diet. So I'll have to weigh myself before leaving in the morning. Unfortunately, I don't think this trip will be good for the waistline, but at least it comes at the beginning of the cycle and I have plenty of time to make up for it before the next weigh in.

The World Is Coming to an End
No, not because the unthinkable has happened and Eli Manning led his team to 3 playoff victories. I say this because this is how everyone around here acts when there is even the littlest threat of snow. Now, I get it. They are not used to it as it rarely snows here, but come on. There were two near catastrophes this past week.
On Wednesday of last week, it was all over the TV, radio, internet, etc. that Thursday morning there was gonna be some sleet, not even full on snow mind you. So there were warning emails flying around work. Everyone was constantly checking the internet for the latest updates. We even had to have a meeting about what to do in case people couldn't make it in to work. Now, like myself, most of the other managers here are from the NY area, so this is all pretty hilarious to us. But people really freak out down here. I was told a story about a storm that they had down here like 2 or 3 years ago where it came out of nowhere. the weathermen didn't predict it and it started snowing pretty heavily around lunch time. Well, every place closed and sent their employees home at the same time. Well you guess what happened next, mass hysteria. All it took was one accident and then they started piling up and the roads were unnavigable. It took some people over 8 hours to get home. Police and ambulances couldn't get where they were going it was so bad. Some people even left their cars in the middle of the road and walked to the nearest hotel to stay the night. Crazy, right? It gets so bad that the night before they are predicting bad weather, the supermarkets are mobbed and they even run out of bread and milk and stuff. Ok, so back to Thursday. it was supposed to start at like 2 or 3 in the morning and no one knew what this terrible storm held. So schools and businesses were already closing and calling delayed openings for the next day on Wednesday night before it had even started raining or anything. Well, I was up early and wanted to get in early so that I wouldn't have to be on the roads with these retards. Needless to say, the roads were perfectly fine and it never even sleeted, it was just rain. Crisis adverted.
So the next day, here comes the storm warning again. This time it was supposed to happen on Saturday, which made the panic a little less, but they were predicting the horrible, death bringer that is snow. they were saying 2 to 4 inches. So once again, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria. All over the news and everything, yada, yada, yada. turns out it did actually snow, but since it rained for hours before there was no accumulation on the roads or anything and maybe a quarter of an inch on the grass. Once again the crippling deathblow of old man winter was narrowly adverted.

The Wilson Weekend
So I am sure that you all have been sitting on the edge of your seats dying to know what went on this weekend. Well, your wait is over.
It all started off on Wednesday night when he flew in. Being the large douchebag that he is, he booked the latest flight and that of course, was delayed, so he finally landed around 11:20 and by time we got his bag and hit the road, we didn't get back to my house until almost midnight. So we talked for a bit and had a beer and then called it a night.
As for Thursday, you can see from my previous blog that Wilson slept in. I, unfortunately, have lost the ability to sleep late anymore, so like 9:00 is really late for me. We headed out to the supermarket to get some beer (another reason to live in the south, beer in the supermarket) and some stuff he had forgotten to bring with him, and we grabbed a pizza and headed home. After lunch it was time to play some video games. So we did that for a few hours until it was time to go to the game. The Devils were in town to play the Hurricanes and we got some sweet tickets in the Lexus Champions Club section of the arena. I have sat here once before and I am now spoiled. i don't know that I can sit anywhere else now. All you can eat food, free drinks, comfy high backed leather chairs, waitress service. It is the greatest place to watch a game. not to mention that there is a great view. So we enjoyed our free food and beverages, and watched the Devils win 4-1. After that we decided to go to a "club" that may, or may not, have been gentlemanly in nature. So after hanging out there for a while and drinking some beer and enjoying the scenery (and yes, another reason to live in the south, they can serve alcohol while being topless) we decided to head home. What should have been a 45 minute ride home took about 20. probably in part to the fact that we were cruising down the highway and then i just happened to look down at the speedometer and realise that we were doing 100 at one point. So we returned home safely and had a couple more beers and then called it another night.
Friday started with me getting up early again and Wilson sleeping in. So once Wilson finally mosied his way downstairs, we all went out to lunch while discussing the midget stripper that will be appearing at the club in a few weeks. I shit you not. I would link to the site, but I am at work right now and that would probably be frowned upon. We went to Moe's and stuffed ourselves with some fantastic burritos and then headed back home. The original plan was to take Wilson to the range to go shooting after lunch, but we were too stuffed to move. In hindsight, that may have been the right move as I don't know that Wilson and guns mix well. It was beautiful out, in the 70's and sunny, so we sat out side and drank some beers and digested while I smoked a cigar and played with the dogs. And after that, it was video games until we went out to dinner. After dinner, we headed back home and it was a pretty low key night as we were all tired and not feeling well from overindulging ourselves on dinner and the desserts that we all just had to get.
Saturday was more of the same. we were up early, Wilson slept til almost noon. after he had arisen we grabbed some pizza for lunch and started with the sailor and cokes while watching some hockey. we had some more sailors and then played some more video games. then it was time for Bojangle's This is Lisa's and my new favorite fast food place. It is just fantastic and we can't get enough of it. (yet another reason the south rules). It is so good that Wilson had it last time he was here and even broke his homo-vegetarian rules to have some. (Sorry Wilson, i had to out you, but I won't tell anyone about the sausage you had on your pizza the night before) After Bojangle's, it was back to the house to watch the Devils game and hope the the Pats would lose, and of course, drink more. The Devils did win, but unfortunately, so did the Pats. After the games, we watched some movies and then called it a night.
There wasn't much on Sunday. Wilson pretty much slept until he had to leave. I brought him to the airport and stopped on the way so he could pick up some super cheap cigarettes (cartons are $28 here instead of the $70 you pay in jersey. and yes, that's another reason). That was it. i am sure you all have been really enthralled by my story, but sadly it must end. Tomorrow is supposed to be my first weigh in for the diet and I am kind of dreading it as this weekend was not good to me since I haven't even thought of the diet or exercising since Wednesday, but we'll see. Hopefully I made enough progress early on that it will carry me through this past weekend without gaining any.

Recent Jessica Pics
So the Wilson visit officially started last night. It's 10:38AM, we've been up for over 2 hours and he is still sleeeping. I guess that is one of the main differences between being single and having a family. I'll recap the whole visit next week, not that it will be too exciting, probably just us drinking and playing video games or something. So for now, here are some recent Jessica pictures.

What's on tap
First off, I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's. We didn't do anything for either of them. You know, kinda hard to go out and party with a baby. Believe it or not, people frown on bringing them to bars. So it was quiet times at home for the 6 of us.
So on to the new year. I've never really made resolutions before and i don't know that I would consider them resolutions for this year, but more like goals. The first of course, is to blog more, which I am off to a good start. The second is to stop being so fat. It's time to start the good ol' diet and exercise routine again. Lisa's on board, so we are both going to start eating healthier which is a big help. I'm hoping to drop at least 20, but more like 30 or 40 pounds. 40 would put me at the lightest I've ever been. I got 2 pounds shy of it a few years ago when I did a whole diet and exercise program, so hopefully I can do it this time and maybe even go down more. But of course, the problem is time. There are never enough hours in the day. But we'll see. With Lisa and I both doing it, hopefully we can push each other to keep it going.
And now on to whats going on in the new year. We have a few things planned so far for the new year. The infamous Mr. Wilson will be coming down on the evening of the 9th and flying back up that Sunday. And i am sure there will be plenty of drinking involved which will definitely not help the aforementioned diet. So for those keeping score on visits, that's Wilson - 2, Rich - 2, everyone else - 0. That's right, the man that has his own time and is never on time for anything managed (or will manage, hopefully) to be on time for two flights to come down here. Surely the apocalypse is upon us. Next, in April we will be having Jessica's baptism, so lots of family from both sides will be in town for that. Then, there will probably be a trip up to Jersey in either May or June and then another trip up in September for the Ricca's wedding. Hopefully, there will also be another trip to see Bich, but we will have to see about the logistics with the whole baby and such. it may just have to be another solo trip. And I think that is about it so far. We'll see what the rest of the year brings.
